Actiwatch Troubleshooting and Instructions

When wearing the actiwatch you should be able to slide your pinky finger between the watchband and your wrist.

Troubleshooting

  • The Actiwatch is functioning properly if it displays the time while you are wearing it on your wrist (the time will not show when the watch is not being worn).
  • If your Actiwatch does not display the time, please ensure it is being worn securely on your wrist.  If the time still does not display, contact the study team immediately for a replacement Actiwatch.

How to wear the Actiwatch:

  • Place the Actiwatch on your non-dominant wrist (i.e., if you are right handed, wear on your left wrist)
      • If you already wear a watch, please remove it (or switch it to your other wrist) while wearing the Actiwatch.
  • Tighten band till it is secure but not overly tight. You should be able to slide your pinky finger between the watchband and your wrist.

During the Study

  • Wear the watch continuously, 24 hours per day for the full 7 days of the study.
  • Remember to press the large button on the right side of the watch in the evening when you try to fall asleep and when you first wake up in the morning
  • It is ok to wear the watch while bathing – it can get wet for up to 30 min.
      • If the watch does get wet, remove the watch and dry the watch bands to avoid skin irritation.
  • If you do remove the watch, please replace it as soon as possible.
      • Remove the watch when playing contact sports to avoid damage.
  • The Actiwatch will not require charging during the study.
  • When your seven day study participation is over, please remove the Actiwatch and place it in your biomonitor box to return to the study team.
